How it Works

Range Rules is an interactive assessment and content‑delivery platform built to support shooting sports, firearms training, and range safety.

With Range Rules, you build custom training assessments and knowledge checks in minutes and deploy them instantly. No chasing paperwork. No collecting forms. No manual scoring. The system handles distribution, tracking, and results automatically.

Create your questions. Set your standards. Push your content out. Participants complete it. You get stats in seconds.

Range Rules supports you in building, delivering and measuring:

With intuitive design tools, you build clean, consistent, professional‑grade question sets that deploy seamlessly to any device, where participants can join instantly with a quick QR-code scan for a smooth, reliable experience every time.

How Range Rules Works

Range Rules is a digital version of a workshop, a large filing cabinet, and a distribution center - all rolled into one. The system does not supply authoritative training or certified guidance; instead, it gives you the tools to build and deliver the content you choose to use; a place to build training scenarios, rules, guidance, and structured workflows without worrying about how the content will be delivered later.

As a content‑delivery platform, Range Rules serves as a central hub focused on three supportive functions:

That’s it.

As a content creator within Range Rules, you’re not just entering text - you’re shaping a guided experience. Once your material is built, the platform handles the delivery. Your content is organized and presented in a clean, readable format that works seamlessly on phones, tablets, laptops, and desktops. You also receive structured response data that helps you understand participant performance and identify areas where additional focus may be useful.

The Range Rules Family Tree - A Clear View Through the Technical Forest

Range Rules is built on the concept of Relationships. Think of it like a family tree. At the top is you - the system Coordinator. Signing up for an account creates the highest level of that tree. The sign‑up process is simple, you will find every form and screen within Range Rules includes clear, step‑by‑step guidance. Once your account is active, you’re ready to begin building your family of Question & Answer sets.

Your tree starts like this:

Example of Range Rules family tree image

The first branch of your Range Rules tree is your Range, Agency, or Training Organization. From the Coordinator dashboard, choose Design introduction, questions and answers. The first time through, you’ll see the option: Step 1: Describe your organization colored blue. This is where you enter your organization name, headline, and lead story. Think of it this way: you are the owner, your organization is the branch, and the headline and story give that branch its purpose and identity. This content becomes the branding for all Q&A sets you create. You can always return to edit it anytime. If your account is active, connect to your Coordinator dashboard from the main home screen and complete the steps as described above.

So far, your tree looks like this:

The next step is to create (or edit) a Q&A set. From the Coordinator Dashboard, select Design questions, answers and introduction. You’ll see your organization name from the previous step displayed in blue. You can edit it if needed, or click Begin a new question and answer set.

This opens the Manage general settings form. Here the tree begins to branch further: you can create up to 10 Q&A sets (with a Pro account), and each one includes its own general settings along with space for up to 16 questions and 6 possible answers per question. That may seem like a lot, but Range Rules makes the process straightforward.

As you build each question, you’ll also choose which answer is considered “correct” by checking the small radio-button next to that answer. This is an important part of the creation process-you, as the Content Creator, define what is correct or incorrect within your Q&A set. Range Rules simply records the responses and displays the results based on the choices you designate.

Your tree now expands to:

At this point, it’s helpful to step away from the content creation and understand the relationships between your content and respondents. So far, we’ve expanded our family tree as shown above. Let’s go a little further to illustrate how your respondents fit into your content's family tree.

The mechanics of publication-making a Q&A set "Active"- are straightforward, but outside the scope of this discussion. For now, let’s assume you’ve already published your Q&A set.

As the system Coordinator, you’ve provided your respondents with the simple connection details they need. Let’s take on the persona of one of your respondents, Jane Doe. Jane navigates to the website and clicks Begin knowledge check from the Range Rules home screen.

The next screen prompts Jane to enter the Access Code you supplied. Once she does, she’s presented with the formatted content you’ve created so far. The screen displays your Organization Name, followed by your Lead‑in Headline and Story. Directly beneath this content is a list of menu‑selectable Q&A sets you’ve created, the same ones shown on your Coordinator dashboard.

Jane simply clicks on the Q&A set you’ve asked her to complete, enters her name, or nick-name (and optionally her email address, if you selected this option), and proceeds to Cycle through the questions you’ve prepared.

Let’s return to your family tree of relationships and see how Jane fits in,

Your (partial) family tree now looks like this:

Jane has set us up for the our next relationship, results and statistics. From the Coordinator dashboard, Click View results and statistics from Q&A sessions. Range Rules provides detailed metrics, live monitoring as participants complete sets, 14 statistical measures, score distribution charts, and Excel export capability. As always, the screens include descriptive guidance to help you interpret and use the data.

Your fmily tree has grown to this:

Finally, Range Rules includes all the Administrative Functions you need: password resets, security unlocks, data export, storage adjustments, email, personally identifiable information (PII) removal, and completion‑based email notifications, among others.

Your full Range Rules family tree looks like this:

Range Rules guides you through a simple, step-by-step workflow where each part of your content connects to the next-much like branches in a family tree.

Final Thoughts

At its core, Range Rules is a large-scale, transactional system with a lot happening behind the scenes. Each element connects naturally to the next, and once you understand those relationships, the system feels intuitive and easy to navigate.

Range Rules was developed with heavy investment on in‑depth explanations on every screen, ensuring that coordinators and participants alike have clear direction at every stage.
